A Bad Bad Uterus

Hello everyone! Today I want to share with you a really personal story about a health issue of mine.. Last Thursday I went to a gynecologist for an ordinary check and the doctor found that I have a 10cm ovarian cyst! (4 inches) Since then I'm going everyday to a different doctor for extra examinations..
Before taking the time to thank my uterus about this awful situation I have to say that I never had any symptom like pain or discomfort so this came out of the blue! As it appears this cyst has taken most of the available space and now I have to take some hormones and then contraceptive pills hoping that the problem is related to my hormones and will go away. If not the other option is surgery.
So at first I freak out because there is a chance this cyst to break but I'm trying to think positive and I believe that it will get smaller and smaller with the hormones. Of course now I can't lift weight and I should be carefull of what I'm eating and obviously intercourse is out of the question..*cough* tmi
So please tell me if you ever had this problem or anything relative like polycystic ovary syndrome.. Oh and I'm pretty amazed that I found a Frida Kahlo plushie uterus while I was searching for uterus images!
The person who made this must be really awesome!!

  1. sorry to hear about this. i know what it is like to have a random issue pop up at the gyno. this past summer i found out i had endometriosis (and at the time they thought i might also have ovarian cancer...and wouldn't know until they operated. but thank god i was cancer free!). but that was definitely a scary time! i feel for you!

    1. I know that feeling cause the first thing the doctor told me was that it might be cancer..
I'm really thankful that the medical examinations revealed that it's not cancer.
I wish you all the best and I really appreciate your support! :)

  2. I'm sorry to hear about this. A few women in my life have had this (including pain) and the doctors were able to get rid of it with the medication. From what I understand it is likely to reoccur so I would suggest staying on the diet. I hope everything works out for you and get some rest!

  3. 10cm? wowza! i have pcos but instead of one huge cyst i have clusters of small ones on each ovary. i'm surprised you weren't in any pain, pain and irregular periods were what made me go to the doctor. i'm on the contraceptive pill to treat it and the pain is alot better now so i'm guessing it shrinks the cysts which it will hopefully do for you too.

    1. I think it's really uncommon that I have no pain..
I'm sooo glad to hear that the contraceptive pills made you feel a lot better :)

  4. Yikes! Actually I had the same thing. AND my appendix was bursting at the same time, so I had surgery to remove both. And it was fine! The recovery wasn't bad, (and definitely was made worse by the appendix being removed also,) so whatever happens, it shouldn't be too bad. But cysts are pretty common, so the medicine should be effective.

    Good luck!

  7. I've never have your problem but I estudied about it.
10cm is very large for not having symptoms, that's good because it's usually very painful.
Don't worry. Most cysts disappear with pills but If not, the surgery is a good option because They do it by laparoscopy and barely leave scars.

I hope you get better and solve the problem in the best way possible

  8. So here goes my story in short. I've had two cysts. The first one was a 10 pounds (yes, the size of a baby), I had surgery, everything went fine. However they analyzed it and said there was a chance it could be malignant so I had to go through a preventive chemoteraphy treatment for 4 months (To prevent any cells left behind to develop into a dangerous disease such as cancer). Don't get scared, this was just because mine was really big. Actually I was lucky it wasn't malignant.
Two years later, I had another one, not as big of course, but big enough so that surgery, again, was needed.
Now, intercourse has really nothing to do with it. Little cysts form every month in women. However, some of them stay and that is when it becomes a problem. Ever since the second cyst I have been taking contraceptive pills and had no problems. So that should take care of it. However, if by any reason it doen'st stop the growth, don't hesitate to have surgery. It will just be a little scar and you will get better in no time (two to three days tops). There is nothing to worry about:) Just check yourself and have x-rays at least once a year.
So smile, believe me, this is nothing to worry about!(:
    Hope this helped(:

  9. Oh gosh, I hope things work out for you. I've never been to the gynocologist, but I go to my doctor for regular paps and whatnot. I've had some irregular paps in the past, but that's about it.

  10. I have already been down that road. So for an encouraging word if you do have to have surgery it is ok. When I turned 30 I had to have a complete hysterectomy and I will admit the surgery part was not fun. Afterward my life was so much better and I feel better now than I did at 20. So stiff upper lip and find a GOOD doctor and it should be ok.

  14. I'm so sorry to hear about this! I really do hope that hormones work for you as they did for me. Mine was much smaller than yours but caused me to have horrible menstruations. I've been without any cysts forming for about 3 years now. I wish you the best of luck and my heart goes out to you. Gracie <3

  15. Oh the joys of being a girl. PCOS is actually fairly common. I've got it too. I didn't find out until I stopped taking the pill because my husband and I decided we wanted children. Well, right away we got pregnant. But, almost as soon as we found out- we found out it was an ectopic pregnancy. So, after that debacle, it was discovered that I had PCOS. That's the only symptom I ever had. It's always scary to hear that you have any health issue. But, rest assured - doctors and medicine can do really great things these days. It's best to know there's a minor problem. That way you can keep an eye on it and prevent it from becoming a major problem. So, as scared as I was to find this out, I'm grateful to know. And guess what, I'm pregnant again - (hooray) and I'm due this summer. I know your miles away from thinking about kids--just thought I share my little story and let you know that you're definitely not alone. I remember thinking I was such a freak when I first found out. Hang in there girly ;O)

  20. I had a biggie when I was 13. I had to have it removed as I was hemorraghing (sp?). The upshot is that I have a very weak core (try hard to strengthen it with exercises) and a big scar :-(, as the cyst was too large to be removes via keyhole or blasted with some ray gun thing! These large ovarian cysts are not the same as PCOS cysts, which are tiny in comparison.

  21. Oh, wow. What an odd coincidence...

I just discovered your blog after you after you commented on my blog earlier today, and it's so weird that I read this post -- not only have I always had problems with large ovarian cysts, but... just yesterday I found out that I may have PCOS. I just was so surprised to read this today. Wow.

Best of luck to you! You're definitely not alone, and as odd as this sounds, I'm around if you feel like commiserating. :)
